Carefully targeted tax cuts are just as bad. They always seem to target another middle class segment that ceases paying taxes and become dependent on those that do. We are dangerously close to the tipping point. When over 50% of tax filers pay no taxes, the demands for more government largess will accelerate. Everyone should have to write a check to the IRS for at least one dollar. When everyone pays in, the demand for more government spending is reduced.
