Immigrants that spend great effort in the effort to come legally to America are more likely to relish the reward than some Mexican that just strolls up to the border and walks across. The harder you work at achieving a goal the more likely you are to respect the result.

IMHO legal immigrants are more likely to want to assimilate and for their children to assimilate so they can start enjoying the benefits of citizenship.
