After all, it predates Christianity by 1000 years and the Muslim religion by 1600 or more years.
There are many saints who pleased God by their faith prior to Judaism and the Mosaic Law. Abraham was not under the Law, but pleased God while in uncircumcision by his faith. This was the acceptable way to please God, but man became lawless and disobedient, hence the dispensation of the Law:
Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient (1 Tim 1.9)
Both those religions use the original Judaic writings as background for their own.
The Judaism of today is really Phariseeism. It has nothing to do with the Temple Judaism of the OT. The Jews today do not even follow the Mosaic Law or the prophets. They blaspheme the Law and Moses and the Prophets, and Christ.
1000 years seniority should be VERY important when it comes to religion, if it isn't then maybe Mormonism is the true religion or maybe someone RIGHT NOW is writing what will eventually be considered the TRUE sacred writings that will tell us the REAL TRUE religion.
Judaism is not the first or oldest religion. Abel, Enoch, Noah, Melchizedek, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, etc. all pleased God and were not under the Law.
God instituted the law because of the hardness of the Jew's hearts. It was never meant for all men to observe. |
