But wouldn't the world be such a wonderful place if the public demanded that their news be objective and informative?

The closest thing we get to such objectivity is "The News Hour with Jim Lehrer".

The best news journalist is someone who leaves you confused as whether they are conservative or liberal. Someone who understands that their job is to report NEWS, to help people UNDERSTAND that news by showing as many major sides of the issues as feasible.. to enable people to make INFORMED DECISIONS..

Had an interesting experience over the past month.. Before I went to Iraq, my father and I would debate many issues and he didn't quite seem to have the necessary information to make an informed opinion on the events in the Mid-East, or why I felt it was so important that we do something to alter the political environment there.

So I gave him a copy of Tom Friedman's "Attitudes and Latitudes" and encouraged him to read it. Well, he finally got around to finishing it over the past month and we both can FINALLY jibe on our discussions from a common reference.

And surprisingly, he found Friedman's opinions to mirror his own common-sensical approach..

THIS is what the MSM has been lacking.. My father is a news junkie like myself.. But it took reading a solid book with a variety of viewpoints, but based in sound analytical logic, for him to feel comfortable with formulating an opinion.

And they want to come here and do it too.....

Not just here.. Everywhere.. Global Jihad..
