I see that you have some anger at "Solid". As he/she has not responded to your pique, perhaps I may insert a comment without of course any pretense to speaking for him or her.

"But all that is based on consciousness, without which awareness of the other is impossible."

Of course we have five senses with which we gather the data to interpret our environment--i.e. reality.

"And what ABOUT "all the mystics"??"..."and indeed to what looks to me to be your "raison d'etre" on this thread: That rellgions are all crap (or worse, dangerous) and based on "poppycock", with no redeeming value now or ever (in fact Jesus didn't even exist!)."

As to what about "all the mystics"...THAT was my question to you. As to "That religions are all crap"...I don't believe that. I do believe that they are based on mythical premises rather than science, and that they serve a purpose which is often antithetical to human rights and freedoms and the goals of human peace. I think the current Biggies (in general) encourage mindlessness, and a belief in superstition and myth. They have demonstrated over centuries that their sole evolutionary "intention" is to perpetuate their existence and their power base at any cost to humanity. The giants of humanity have often been silenced by their heavy hand--either by death or threat of death; and we have no idea how many benefactors of humanity were silenced--or chose to keep their wisdom to themselves so as to live.

"in fact Jesus didn't even exist!"

I don't know of any responsible objective scholar who would challenge the well evidenced fact that the Jesus portrayed in the bible is a composite mythical figure.
