Not that fast, as compared to what?
Should be plenty fast compared to my old Celeron duallie @ 550MHz x 2.

Maybe you got something slowing your system down, either crufty old windows install (lots of stuff installed and possibly either not uninstalled or not purged from the registry). I have had decent results with ccleaner.com to tidy up the registry and remove a few residual error messages from startup.

Other ideas if your computer is known to be clean, maybe antivirus or antispyware slowing it down? Latency due to slow hard drives or memory? Or short on memory, more is always better.
