Different styles of Chardonnay for different tastes. The oak thing went way over the edge about 10 years ago. One of the worst for me was Newton's Unfiltered. I seldom get a headache from wine but this one did it everytime. Some cheaper wineries manipulate the taste with "oak" flavoring. Probably the secret of Two Buck C. I like chardonnays that have maleolactic fermentation but you need some good acid for balance. I seldom waste money on pricey california chards. Save that $ for French and Italian reds. MP
