The sales of WebTV is still highly speculative but it has some real powerhouses lined upt behind it and appears to be gaining in momentum prior to the availability of the new boxes. Sales of the initial PCs, which started a few years prior to IBM's entry, sold only a few hundred thousand. VCRs and many other consumer products started out with low unit sales. It would be quite posible for WebTV units to be selling 4-6 millions per year within three to five years. Heck, who knows what might happen, they could sell ten or 20 million a year if this cheap way to get on the internet catches on.

The features may end up being more attractive to a lot of users and content providers than PC accessed internet service. With captive customers and ability to shape the interface more completely than typical internet service, the usage and purchasing pull through of WebTV may be a real advantage.
