Leading Automobile Manufacturer Selects F5 Products to Ensure Fast,
Available and Secure Access for Its Internet and Intranet Sites

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 9, 2006--

Cost-savings, as well as high reliability for SAP-based applications,
are focal points of key infrastructure initiative

F5 Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:FFIV), the global leader in Application Delivery Networking, today announced that one of the world's leading automobile and motorcycle manufacturers, the BMW Group, has selected F5's BIG-IP(R) v9 products to provide fast, available and secure application delivery for Internet and intranet site users in its manufacturing plants worldwide, as well as its more than 30 sales subsidiaries across the globe.
As part of a key initiative designed to control costs and enhance the reliability of the network infrastructure across its three global data centers, BMW Group uses F5's BIG-IP v9 Application Delivery Networking solution. F5's BIG-IP provides high-availability load balancing, fast and extremely intelligent layer 7 switching, granular interactive control, DoS protection, resource pooling and a number of other features to help protect an enterprise's Internet presence.
BMW Group is currently migrating all of its Web-based applications to BIG-IP v9, keeping them available 24/7, secure, and fast. The solution provides organizations with the highly-scalable SSL encryption/decryption needed to offload the servers, while keeping the sessions themselves secure. Furthermore, F5 equipment enables enterprises to maintain 'sticky' connections without having to add complicated persistence logic to the applications, which reduces provisioning costs for SSL security across the entire network worldwide.
"Quality is the foundation of a premium brand like BMW, and we're proud that F5 solutions meet the company's exacting standards," said Erik Giesa, Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at F5 Networks. "We're committed to continuing our drive to innovate and deliver new approaches that help customers solve critical business challenges."
