Don't you dare try to excuse Nixon of the Vietnam War, you revisionist historian BS artist. I was living through that period. I saw what Nixon did. Nixon threw plenty of gasoline on the fire in Vietnam. And as a result tens of thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese died for no good reason at all.

I am sick and tired of rightwing BS artists trying to ressurrect Nixon and McCarthy, while trying to blame what were mostly GOP scandals and failures on democrats. And also claiming Reagan ended communism.

Nixon in 1968 was the pro-war candidate and once he won he and Agnew spent years battling the anti-war movement and stoking the fires of war, even though he (unlike Johnson) knew by then that the war was unwinnable, self-defeating and incredibly costly. Even after Nixon promised to end the war, he took his sweet time, extending it for years after it should have been over.
