Clinton was not steering us toward any cliffs. He left Bush a 225 billion annual surplus, full employment, cheap gasoline and peace on earth. He even warned Bush about Al Qaida being the #1 concern to watch out for. What did Bush do? disbanded the Al Qaida desk at the WH, suspended investigations into Saudi nationals and not only squandered all the projected surpluses but over-spent and under-taxed to the tune of about 7 trillion dollars (projected, and already halfway there, and getting worse).
