That's it! It's hard to comprehend. I first learned about it back in 1974, and I was just mesmerized by the story of the great flood.

It explained so much of what I had seen, including why there are parallel lines on Mt. Jumbo and Mt. Sentinel in Missoula. My Dad thought they were cow paths, but they were ancient temporary shorelines of the great lake.

If you've ever driven from Missoula west on I-90 you can see some of the handiwork of that flood when all that water was concentrated in a narrow chasm.
