I wouldn't mind if she had a doomed baby, as long as she wasn't burning up ICU time that really shouldn't be wasted- and if you noticed, she wasted the time of several ICU's. Since health care is limited, I hate to see it burned up on lost causes- and I would be curious to know just who paid for all that ICU time- I'd be willing to bet quite a bit of money that it wasn't Good Counsel who paid for the ICU bills. It isn't ok to waste health care resources like that. Health care ICU's belong to all of us, since most hospitals get government dollars, and much health care research gets some government funding, and oodles of government dollars go to pay for health care.
So, that's a problem for me. In this day and age when even folks with jobs go without health care because they can't get insurance it's criminal to waste health resources like that. Yep. I think it's criminal. It's not a crime anyone will be tried for, but it's still a crime in my book.
Edit- and my point was that any orgnaization that is that foolhardy and agenda driven, that it would waste health resources on prolonging a death over the advice of health professionals, is NOT the kind of organization one can say substitutes for having real unbiased health choices, which is how the whole discussion started. This group does not represent anything like a normal prenatal care program. Health care is obviously secondary on their agenda. Putting god first is fine, if you're in the clergy, but I think we all deserve the choice to have doctors that put our care first. If we choose not to have such doctors because we don't want them, that's fine- but simply being poor shouldn't force us in to the arms of agenda driven faux-health organizations. |
