Lane, I didn't mean to get you an assignment to prove the existence of "hot button" issues WRT use of terms like "incident"...lol.

One person's "incident" is another person's "homicidal killing" or "terrorist attack", I guess.

I've had arguments re: jury instructions over whether
the term "accident" or "incident" should be used. People
tend to infer things from the choice of words and whatever
advantage they believe they can achieve through their preferred choice.

I don't doubt that "incident" is widely used to cover a lot of ground. All I can say is how it struck me in this instance, regardless of how the term is otherwise bandied about.

But I lack both the time and inclination to conduct any significant research on the topic...:-)
