"In the meantime, the global war on terror will continue, particularly as it may be punctuated by INCIDENTs like those in Madrid, London, and Bali. This will entail endless patrolling in collaboration with allies, though the major contribution in rounding up terrorists will be by coordination among police forces in the countries where they may be lodged, like Pakistan and, increasingly in Europe itself.
If there is another massive terrorist INCIDENT in the U.S., or even one on the scale of London or Madrid, there will be much more orientation of U.S. forces to U.S. homeland defense, including much less mental concern and attention to events overseas; i.e., the U.S. might be tempted to take a more isolationist approach. Posted on PFP. No wringing of hands over the word "incident".
Some of the other language in the Iranian leader's letter was so worthy of comment, and so extreme, I just found it odd we were talking about something like "incident". But there you are. |
