They have to be hawkish in stance, even if they think they can wait for all the previous hikes to kick in and the housing collapse to pick up steam. The latter shouldn't be long in coming now that everyone from Buffett to the Fed is talking about the declining housing market. Depending on how long it takes to really exert an effect, they may not have to hike again.
