The war is the icing on the cake........along with the tax cuts, its what puts us into the red.

You can take any item and say "its what puts us in the red", considering all other spending to be covered by revenue. You could say "Medicare, and Medicaid put us in to the red", or any other group of programs you want to focus on.

Damn! Until 2001, this country had a surplus. Now our debt is growing by leaps and bounds. What changed? Tax cuts and the war in Iraq.

It is more reasonable to divide the deficit up proportionately among the various spending categories. Measured that way the war in Iraq only causes a small portion of our deficit.

No it isn't. I refuse to agree to what accommodates your dangerous ideology. Bush wanted a war in order to act out the goals of your ideology. The only people who are truly benefiting from this are are the rich industrialists. Let them give back their tax cuts to help pay for it.

Its the equivalent of you buying a second car and joining an expensive country club.

Measured against a typical persons income, its more like getting digital cable or satellite TV combined with high speed internet access. Of course someone who is spending money hand over fist on other things might not be able to afford digital cable, but if he is spending much more on the other things its a bit silly to blame his financial situation on the cable bill.

What's silly is your refusal to acknowledge what is so obvious to many others. I can't help you, Tim. You're on your own.
