MD, To find out what we did or tired to do prior to 9/11, Google Jamie Gorlick and Colleen Rowley and a host of others. I see more potential harm than potential good coming from this current spate of monitoring.

I will grant that with the Internet and other modern communications, the enemy does not need to physically be within our country's boundaries, but where do we draw the line on our efforts to monitor and surveil others? Where do we draw the line on how such information is stored and used for what possible future purposes?

To add to my perceived list of black marks on our country's history, which fly in the face of our country's Constitution, the RICO Statutes deserve more than honorable mention. Much, much more. Who whudda thunk how those statutes would come to be used? - Holly
