TP, Now all of these goals are in the top ten and very important, but the founding fathers knew that you can't secure the blessings of liberty if the citizens are set against each other instead of helping all to achieve a more perfect union.

Words out of context. The Constitution was a step up from the Articles of Confederation, which didn't have much of a centralized government. That's why the Constitution's preamble endorses a stronger union.

But a "step up" does not mean an endorsement of another all-powerful government. Nor does a "more perfect Union" speak of communism. That's the "logic" that gave birth to the phrase "People's Republic."
