Again, it gets back to the right to be left alone and the right to be secure in ones papers and other possessions and thoughts (or some such). with all due respect... assuming you were a terrorist hellbent on killing thousands of innocent people, i think the last concern i would have would be toward the preservation of a perceived right to 'privacy', assuming mining your telephone or internet data would provide a means to prevent the carnage and i will point out to you that we live in a democratic republic....if, and this is a very big if, (i personally don't buy the 'big brother is out to watch you' argument for a minute, since it would be political suicide) ......so IF it were shown that a political party (in power) abused the power of authority and used it to harass innocent, private citizens, i have full faith and confidence that civil liberties would be restored through the ballot box i think we'll just have to agree to disagree (noting full well that we are able to do so publicly without threat of governmental interference or recrimination <g>)
