I really don't think such databases make us any safer, but they sure give more intrusive powers to the government.

Gotta get in on this. I actually DO think such databases make us safer. It's probably been going on much longer than any of us would care to know. As to "more intrusive powers", I'd say yes to that one too. At some point, however, we have to trust the collective government to do the right thing for the folks. Risky, I'll give that to you, but it's a risk I guess I'm willing to take.

This takes me back to one of my all time favorite movies. "Seven Days in May". A conspiracy by some traitorous military generals to take over the government. I think I'll go to Blockbuster and try to find that. Good time to take another look.

We live in scary times...
