Your interpretation/spin on recent comments by AMD management just doesn't reconcile with the following recent comments by AMD management:

What?

The fact that Marty thinks Turion X2 "will set a precedent" and that Dirk "WANT[s] to double AMD's market share" is in no way counter to what I noted: AMD execs no longer claim they will maintain a performance advantage against Intel, *like they used to do in the past*.

Dirk: No direct performance comments, just the "OEMs are planning to use us more and they've seen both roadmaps" dodge.

Henri: Intel may be in an "improvement cycle" in H206, while we may be in a "stable cycle".

Hector: No performance challenges this year or next, instead, something else that is 'fun'.

How could they put it any clearer besides simply coming out against their own interests and saying "we're going to lose the lead for X quarters" ???

I think these guys were actually caught by surprise by how good NGA performance turned out to be. Knowing it lacked an IMC, I suspect they were thinking it would manage parity at best.
