Ted, a real brief response to your lengthy post:

1) When I said that the rich can dodge taxes, I meant legally. Trust funds, off-shore accounts, deductions up the wazoo, etc.

2) It's always better to cut spending than to raise taxes or rollback tax cuts. I'd rather see the former.

3) It's funny how you pay attention to Buffet as a Midwesterner, but not the vast majority of the Midwest voting public that voted for Bush.

4) I'm not against Buffet. In fact, I've said repeatedly that he makes some good points regarding the tax code. The problem I have is the same problem I have with those who selectively quote Buchanan just for his anti-Iraq stance. Buffet's views have to be taken in its entirety.
