I've noticed that among small and mid-sized business there's also a lot of dissatisfaction with Dell. Where in the past, you could get a nice advantage by buying what you wanted from them, while the others offered you "cookie cutter" solutions, today the benefit of using Dell is going away.

My own recent impression: belowthecrowd.com

And another one: robert.aitchison.org

Bottom line is that we're getting pissed off at Dell's "Chinese menu" which no longer offers us even simple things like choosing the type and quanity of memory we want, as opposed to the inventory-dumping "options" they want to foist on us.

As noted in my blog, the latest purchase was done with the idea of maximizing the life of my docking station and other accessories. By the time I replace again, those will surely be completely obsolete. At that point, the sale is likely to go to somebody else.

And in the businesses I consult with, Dell is now a four-letter word.
