TJ quick report from Brazil. To gauge Brazil I observe car ownership. It is the best way to gauge economic activity in Brazil. When back in Brazil I spend a lot of time time following my experiment in school.

Observing the schools' parking lot. As always full of 1.3L and 1.6L second cars for the mums and for the teachers. The rich -usually businessmen and liberal professionals- drive SUV's.

The very rich more expensive SUV's like Volvos XC90 and a few american cars. But a surprise: I saw a Porsche there and in the street nearby my place I saw a Rolls Royce.

The car dealerships are getting big and bigger. And even in the city's outskirts they are stocking good cars. This means: the money started to roll in.

In the real estate area: many lots for sale with old houses on them being sold for the value of the ground area saying: House in the lot of no commercial value.

Salaries have been increasing above inflation. Real estate doubled double in value in the last eight years. Renting houses is a sellers market. It is sadi that this is what driving the value of properties up.

It is getting really interesting...
