Re: I dunno, everyone is extrapolating from a handful of selected benchmarks.

Are you kidding? Four or five is a handful. There must be at least a couple dozen different benchmarks tested by now. Conroe and Merom now hold the records in several of them.

Given that it isn't likely that Intel selected benchmarks where NGA does poorly against K8 and the fact that NGA is very likely to perform extremely well on workloads where there is a predictable pattern to data fetches and may not do very well at all on things where there aren't, then this extrapolation seems error prone.

It is difficult to find benchmarks where the current Core Duo performs poorly against K8. Conroe/Merom have been beating up Core Duo badly in many benchmarks. There is quite a bit of evidence suggesting Conroe and Merom have very few weaknessness compared to Athlon/Turion.

You would think the fact that Intel keeps other benchmarks under NDA would raise some suspicions...

They don't want to kill all of the hype before the processors actually launch. The fact that AMD has released no benchmarks of revision F processors must make you especially suspicious of AMD performance then.
