I think Lindy had a point. I don't fit in over there, and sometimes a very different POV can be disruptive to a board. People often confuse a very different POV with a personal attack. They are different things, but to some people they feel the same. I'm sure you've seen it on SI- someone expresses an opinion that is way out there (or simply a very different opinion from the majority of participants on a board), and suddenly people are all over the person, and attacking the person rather than the idea (it always makes me think of the way ants react to foreign ants). I'm sure there's some biological component to such reactions- many of us are probably behaviorally programmed to respond that way, but it makes the exchange of ideas between people with hugely different viewpoints problematic. There are many ways to respond to that, and Lindy's way is no worse or better than other ways (imo). I certainly support him in his request, and have nothing personal or derogatory to say about him.

(I admit I was initially annoyed since it seemed unfair, and I'm only human. But I thought about it, and got over the "feeling" of unfairness, and realized it made sense.)
