5/12/06 Update No, I didn't get too depressed by last week's biotech stock train wreck to post my Charity Contest update. Although I try to post the update Friday afternoon after the markets close, I'm posting on Sunday because I've been out of town on a short visit to Southern California. While there, I spent some time at the Huntington complex in Pasadena and the Skirball Cultural Center in LA., both of which I highly recommend. For those interested, here are links to their websites: huntington.org skirball.org The Nasdaq Biotech Index got whacked this past week and as of its 5/12/06 close is down -4.05% YTD (vs. a gain of .65% YTD at its 5/5/06 close). The median YTD gain for all 40 Charity portfolios got slammed as well and closed the week up a mere .05% (vs. a gain of 6.1% at its 5/5/06 close). RKRW's portfolio also got hit but remains in the lead with a still phenomenal YTD gain of 43.5% (vs. 50.9% at its 5/5 close). Wilder's portfolio regained second place, closing the week with a YTD gain of 27.4%. Cyran's portfolio moved down to third place, closing the week with a YTD gain of 23.9%. As of their 5/12 week's close, 20 of the 40 Charity portfolios were in the red YTD, with 27 outperforming the Nasdaq Biotech Index. Here's the Unofficial Top Ten list on 5/12/06:
