Ayn Rand was a genius and is being recognized as such even more today than when she was alive. The Great Depression, The Vietnam era, McCarthyism... The Great Depression was caused by the federal government (see Free to Choose: A Personal Statement -- by Milton Friedman, Rose Friedman; and Capitalism and Freedom -- by Milton Friedman) Vietnam was Lyndon Baines' Johnson's war. McCarthy was pretty much right, just look at the majority of professors in America's colleges and universities. JFK "solved" the Cuban Missile Crisis by secretly closing our most important Soviet listening post in Turkey. After the media fear died down, the Soviets quietly docked armed nuclear submarines into Cuba, their missiles pointed at the U.S. Net effect: we lost our Turkey base. Yeah, JFK could have ended the Cold War (not). FT
