I hate to sound like a tour promoter for Alaska, but an inside passage tour is lovely indeed, even if the weather is so-so. You are usually within hailing distance of land, and the scenery is beautiful. You can see wildlife and sea life, and interesting towns along the way.

A trip on the Alaska State Ferry system is a lot cheaper and they don't have Social Directors telling you what to do all time.
