The question is not whether the earth is warming significantly. It may be, and it has significantly in times gone by. In the middle ages, around 900 to 1100 AD it warmed markedly and the NW passage was open at that time. The sea was much higher then, as evinced by late raised beaches in the maritime area. Then the temperature swung very low later in the second millenia over much of Europe. This was known as the mini ice age. We are coming out of that era and swinging slowly into a warmer climate. It may be driven in part by the known hole in the ozone layer, the reason for which is only conjectural. The question is not the warming but what the drivers of climate are. What degree of contribution can be blamed on artificial C02, methane and other greenhouse effectors is a compelling question. Some say it is so small as to be ignored. Others that it is small but significant. 2% may be enough to make a difference to livability and desertification in many areas. If the sea changed that much in temperature overall it would be catastrophic to many species.

A greater problem is the ozone layer depletion and the fading of the magnetosphere. If the magnetosphere collapses, and it is weakening, then the atmosphere may deplete. Regardless of what religion may think, there is no written guarantee of livability on the spheroid.
