Humans walking the earth have been walking the earth for how long? Waste from nuclear plants lasts how long? Iodine-129 is a major waste from nuclear power plants. It has a half-life of 15.7 million years. How can anyone be so dumb as to think that safekeeping anything like this around for 16 million years is, today, a viable option?
