The federal government should never have built the federal highways. Since they did they have consistently used it to blackmail the states and diminish state's rights.

One of the few Constitutional duties the government has is to maintain the military. I support that.

National Defense Highway System

When President Eisenhower went to Kansas to announce the interstate highway system, he announced it as "the National Defense Highway System." In 1956 President Eisenhower signed legislation establishing the National System of Interstate and Defense Highways (about 41,000 miles of roads).
