AS...we've been all through this already. What I asked you for is the words of John Kerry in the response to the smears. As I said before, Kerry chose to be silent on this matter.

Delegating the effort to Max Cleland did noting to assure the people that smears were unfounded. The only way that Kerry could combat such smears was to go on the record with a rebuttal.

Kerry should have said, lets meet head to head and discuss your charges and evidence.

As far as I can see the charge of Kerry not going to Cambodia was true. Kerry didn't get to Cambodia. Other charges were laid and withdrawn. Kerry could have defused the smears with courage and stood up to it. It would have taken a day out of his schedule to challenge the smearvets to a meeting. They could have met head to head...the smearvets and his boatmates. That would have made a hell of a show...and the ratings would have been incredible.

He could have turned their effort around with one act of courage. He failed. And what's more the smears still dirty up his image to this day, because he has not cleansed himself of the mud.
