what if amd would drop prices to regain price/performance lead. That, of course, would imply shipping more chips to make up for the lost revenue. We all know about AMD's capacity build-up. If that is the case then Intel would continue to loose market share this year. Intel may regain some of the share in the 1st half of the next year.

Also you assume that core 2 duo would only eat AMD sales. You don't think that the majority of Intel shipments this year would still be inferior to AMD.

It is also possible that AMD would be able to increase frequency faster than intel

and all AMD needs at this point is to buy about 12-18 month and possibly even less
