I agree.

I believe that many of my political positions are mainstream, but not necessarily "moderate" or "centrist". That's because I know full well I generally tend to lean toward conservative solutions to issues. I don't really care if my POV is to the left or right of most folks. What really matters is whether my POV will result in the best possible solution.

I guess some folks think so highly of themselves that their every thought is "moderate", "centrist" & anything to the left or right is out of the mainstream to them. I see that kind of thinking here on SI & a lot of blogs I read - with the caveat that it's mostly folks who lean strongly to the left.
