Re: 75% is still a lot more apart than nearly. Given 75% of top end overall performance, many budget solutions would go past this mark. +/-2% is more like nearly. Problem is under that rule, Core Duo T2600 doesn't come nearly to 939 A64 X2 4800+.

So what you are saying is that because 2.16GHz Core Duo beat the 2.4GHz Athlon 64 X2 4800+ by a huge margin in Mathematica 5.2 then Core Duo is the superior CPU and Athlon 64 X2 4800+ is comparable to a Sempron or Celeron. I get it now.
