But don't you think those folks living in the changing Central and South American countries are, themselves, working to achieve "common good," this after decades of US-supported dictatorships?

And, come to think of it, shouldn't we here in America also be working for the "common good?" I agree with you. It doesn't exist. But why not strive toward it, no matter what your vantage point?
