Personally, I don't worry myself over application of TOU's. I figure that the written record speaks for itself.
In order to define "center", one has to define "left" and "right."
It seems to me that, on this thread, what is viewed a "center" is actually left of center, and sometimes significantly so. This likely explains the level of indulgence<g>
As for this BDS, that type of syndrome is not reserved for Bush. I would agree that there were those who hated Clinton with equal fervor, and just as irrationally. With Bush, it began with the 2000 election and those who thought it was "stolen." That notion still crops up.
Although you were criticized for use of the "BDS" nomenclature, there is an element that goes with the knee jerk opposition to Bush, without critical assessment, and regardless of what he does. We've seen it here. As far as I'm concerned, that kind of thinking is a "syndrome" of some kind...lol Surely it's no less a syndrome than blind adherence to, and acceptance of, anything one's party does.
I was a Democrat, and an active one, during college. I worked on local campaigns and with people who were delegates to national conventions. What drove me away from both politics and the Democrat party was the sheep like mentality and almost religious fervor of the true faithful. They literally received their instructions and went with them, without question. They were into every cause du jour. I couldn't believe that otherwise intelligent people could be so stupid.
And I'm talking about the 1970's. I shudder to think what it's like today. It's so much easier to brainwash today with the internet and expanded media over and above the already lefty bent in the classrooms. |
