I guess this is where we have a new paradigm: <Officials say the FBI makes extensive use of a new provision of the Patriot Act which allows agents to seek information with what are called National Security Letters (NSL). The NSLs are a version of an administrative subpoena and are not signed by a judge. Under the law, a phone company receiving a NSL for phone records must provide them and may not divulge to the customer that the records have been given to the government.> So when someone in the administration leaks the identity of a CIA agent to the press as part of an administrative retaliation against someone that made statements that did not support the administration effort for war...that takes a court order. But when a CIA agent leaks information to the press regarding rendition, secret prisons and torture chambers that the administration is using...well that kind of leak only requires a new fangled NSL to investigate. I'll bet that Dick Cheney can sign one of those letters. The Patriot Act sure comes in handy...wouldn't you say? Orca
