Again, your facts are wrong.

National security letters have been legal for 30 years. They are official requests for consumer transactional records, issued by FBI field supervisors. A national security letter cannot be used to authorize eavesdropping or to read the contents of e-mail. The Patriot Act just broadened their applicability and eased the information disposal rules.

I doubt George W. Bush or Richard Cheney has ever had anything to do with an NSL. Except maybe in your little fantasy world.
