The Declaration of Independence was a beautifully composed document that did its job. No one claimed it was gospel. You or I might have taken a different approach but the things that needed to be included were included and that is what matters.

It was a declaration not a debate. It demonstrated just cause and authority for the positions held within the document. It remains the justification for the existence of a society we affectionately like to call the USA. To the extent that we uphold our claim, we are justified in continuing our existence as a society. To the extent that we abandon our cause we will suffer annihilation.
