"What is the difference between self-awareness and Cogito, ergo sum? Are they equivalent. Does one prove the existance of the other? If I think am I self-aware and if I am self-aware do I think?"

Self awareness/Self evidence is proof unto itself for the person who is self aware. I understood your challenge to me to provide something more imperical. So I did.

Gem has to convince jttmab that self-evidence is valid. So, I can use my own observations as one reference and can confirm that by the observations of others on my existence. I can validate that by nearly universal agreement among human beings as to the existence of self awareness and to the existence of ideas that we hold in common agreement. Since varying societies have come to the same conclusions about the exempliary concepts of good/bad then we can conclude that individuals are able to confirm for them selves evidence of these value forms and to attest to one another's knowledge of such forms.

The thing can exist without confirmation from others but according to the terms of your challenge, I must present convincing external evidence that confirms my claim the validity of certain forms that are knowable via self evidence.

"If I think am I self-aware and if I am self-aware do I think?

Also known as ... "I think, therefore I am."
