So, Russia had big problems. We massacred hundreds of thousands of Native Americans too. Then we massacred each other during the Civil War. We've also started three big bloody wars based on lies. In Vietnam, we killed 500,000 for no good reason. Besides, I don't think that the news of massacres like that got around in the 1930's. They didn't have video, internet or TV. idealistic communist folk singers in the US would have had no idea that there was anything wrong with wanting people to help each other and share with each other. Remember, they all suffered badly during the depression too, so sharing (ie communism) was survival instinct, not to mention the Christian thing to do.
