MISSISSAUGA, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 22, 1997-- Transformation Processing Inc. (TPI and OTC BB: TPII), and BMR Software Inc. of Dallas, Texas have signed a Letter of Intent whereby TPI "will license the Vertex 2000(TM) software product for Canada and the Commonwealth on an exclusive basis _ and the United States on a primarily protected basis."
Vertex 2000 is the first "new breed" Year 2000 technology that architecturally approaches the problem in a dramatically different fashion than "traditional" Y2K technologies. Dubbed the "silver-plated bullet", Vertex 2000 addresses and solves the problem at the most fundamental level - the object or machine code level, rather than attempting to change source code in a wide-range of computer languages which require thousands of individual solutions at a higher level.
The formal agreement between TPI and BMR will include a mechanism to develop the exclusive listing of what were commonly known as the "Commonwealth" countries and create various pricing models.
The agreement will also include the use of Vertex 2000 in TPI's factory environment and TPI will, under a re-marketing relationship introduce the product to other factories, TPI partners, major Y2K "prime contractors," and to large complex organizations that are tackling the problem themselves.
Doug Woolridge, newly appointed president and chief operating officer of TPI stated that, "as the Wall Street Journal pointed out, most leading authorities that reviewed the Vertex 2000 patent material agree that it will work and that it will do so much faster than existing tools. Our research shows that there are other significant benefits over and above speed and price that have not even been considered. The difference between TPI and those leading authorities is that our thrust here is competitive advantage, and we have the confidence in the technology to step up to the plate, make the marketing and sales investment, and go to market."
Bob Bemer, already an icon in the world of computer programming as well as language research and development and best know as the "Father of ASCII Text" said, "TPI helps BMR Software extend its sales and marketing efforts beyond the United States to solve the Year 2000 problem. We're enthusiastic about working with TPI, both as a direct customer of Vertex 2000 , and as a business and marketing partner."
TPI will, under non-disclosure, immediately begin to introduce Vertex 2000 architecture to the marketplace and expects that the software will begin to remediate customer code by year end. By September 29, 1997, TPI will be prepared to discuss its' analysis of Vertex 2000 and to quantify just how significant the productivity impact on Y2K conversion will be.
