Doug you have to ask youself- What % of the market can AMD now successfully address?

It's all about socket wins. If it was not- Intel would have been decimated about a year ago.

It's bad for AMD that with such a superior product line AMD went from only a ~10% revenue share to a ~18% revenue share.

But now that it has a footprint- it'll continue to have products that address 80+% of the revenue share of the x86 CPU business.

The crucial thing for AMD was that it's now considered a tier 1 supplier in this industry.

Would it be better if they continue to have the #1 performance CPU out there for ever- sure. But given where they are- there is still a lot of share to be gained.

BTW, I have lightened my holdings by 50% due to competitive issues- but do not expect Intel to gain to the same extent that you think they will. You may be surprised.
