You just wasted a lot of time lying to the thread. The Great Depression was caused by the stock market crash of 1929. That had nothing to do with taxes and regulations, it was rich people who were largely UN-taxed using Wall Street as their personal Ponzi Scheme and casino, like the dot-com boom/bust times ten. When the market collapsed, there was a run on the banks and the whole system collapsed. All due to those at the top becoming way to greedy with no oversight. 1932 was 3 years later, and yes the Republican president Hoover did blow it. Maybe doubling taxes wasn't such a good idea. But Hoover has generally been known as the worst prez of the 20th century, until GW Bush came along. As for FDR, his programs set up the largest economic recovery and expansion in world history. He also won two real wars halfway around the world and got the people to sacrifice and work tother. The rightwing called him a "commie" but he was not only our greatest "war president" but our greatest "people president", even though he was a preppy rich kid like GW. One has to feel nauseous when GW tries to compare himself to FDR. There is no comparison. Roosevelt was a great courageous deeply-caring president, one of our five greatest. Bush is competing with Hoover and USS Grant as the worst in US history. Bush took a vibrant economy producing surpluses and turned it into the biggest deficit black hole in the history of the planet. And what did we get for all Bush's deficit spending? Nothing worth anything, it appears from the results. He also took the world's goodwill after 9-11 and squandered it within a single year. And he let 9-11 happen to begin with through gross negligence or worse.
