Although the Saints are a tiny bit of the New Orleans economy and culture, this is certainly welcome news to all of us who hope they continue to have a future in the Crescent City: nola.com The Saints have set a record for season-ticket sales with 54,969, the team announced Wednesday. Tickets remain in all seating areas of the stadium, except for the club level. There have been 81 suites sold out of 137 available. The increased ticket sales has been spurred on by the excitement of adding quarterback Drew Brees and running back Reggie Bush and the hiring of coach Sean Payton, as well as the team returning to the Superdome after last season. "Obviously the things that have happened in the offseason have helped fuel this," said Saints Vice President of Marketing and Business Development Ben Hales. "We've still got a lot of work to do, but we've got a lot to offer." The previous record was 53,728 set in 2003.
