F5 Outpaces All Competitors with Dramatic Market Share Gain;
F5's Layer 4/7 Growth Attributed to Application Delivery Features Not Available in Competitors' Products
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 18, 2006--F5 Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:FFIV), the global leader in Application Delivery Networking, today announced that it achieved the number one position with the largest market share gain worldwide over any other competitor in the Layer 4/7 Total Fixed and Modular Market, according to the recent Q1 2006 Dell'Oro Group report(1). F5's quarter-over-quarter market share gain was 3.8 percent, comprising 35 percent of the total market. The majority of F5's key competitors declined over the same period, most notably Cisco which decreased nearly 3 percent. According to the report, the 'Other' category, which includes Citrix/NetScaler's Application Switch, grew less than 1 percent. F5's growth can be attributed to Application Delivery functions such as the BIG-IP product's TMOS architecture, which delivers the only full IP application proxy, iRules programming language, TCP Express and iControl application integration interface. These functions give enterprises the flexible network architecture they need and require to successfully deliver all applications to all users. "F5 is pleased that we've taken the No. 1 market share position, according to The Dell'Oro Group, and diminish any doubt that F5 continues to be the industry leader in the Application Delivery Networking Market," said Dan Matte, SVP of Marketing at F5 Networks. "There's a lot of market noise and exaggerated positioning by vendors in this space. That's why we value research of this nature that helps to provide an accurate picture of what's really going on in the market place."
