Kim and Saddam were rather exceptions than the rule. Who are you trying to kid?? Control the Media, and you control the polls... And your "pressure release" valve is usually the result of some rival to power attempting to out-manipulate public opinion, because he is powerful enough to be permitted a voice in the state-controlled press. But the PARTY SYSTEM (or whatever power elite) will control the media rather than permit anyone to criticize the actual government. Hell... China just sentenced a guy to 12 years for promoting democratic reforms in China on the internet. Hawk
